"The Winter Horseman"

$90.00

In 2017, as I felt the desire to reconnect with my artwork and to see if I still retained any of my artistic skills, a friend shared a photo of her late father riding at the front of a string of horses on a foggy winter day in Idaho. I immediately thought it would make an excellent painting and eagerly began work on it.

At that point, I hadn’t painted a watercolor in almost 20 years, and I wasn’t particularly confident that the result would be successful. Every artist’s paintings inevitably fall short of their “personal best” — at least in their own self-critiques — and while I might have done better on this one, I certainly could have done worse! This painting, however, holds special significance. It, along with two ink drawings, marks the end of a very long and challenging dry spell in my creative journey.
