The title of this portrait of John Wayne is taken directly from his iconic movie of the same name, directed by John Ford in 1962. It perfectly captures the quintessential image of the quietly cool cowboy hero—second only to those images of my namesake, Clint Eastwood!
This detailed drawing, created in 2017, marked my first attempt at establishing the art career that, until then, I had never truly pursued. It had been many years—since 1989, during my time at Boise State University—since I last created a stippling drawing, and I felt strongly pulled to create another piece. I deeply appreciate how stippling allows for such intricate detail while maintaining a softness of form and a richly textured appearance that brings the artwork to life.
Artwork measures ~ 8” x 11”.
