The Mountain Ash tree (also known as “Rowans”) is covered in huge, thick clusters of orange berries in the summer, and were important trees in Norse and Celtic mythology. The branches of this wood were used to create rune sets, staffs for clerics and druids, magic wands, dowsing rods, and of course, amulets.
I couldn’t imagine NOT making rune sets and amulets without including the Rowans! This year I will be coloring/staining them with the fruit of the berries.
