HAGALL

$100.00

Hagall (letter H) is the 9th rune of the FUTHARK runic alphabet. Hagall, sometimes also referred to as “Hagalaz,” translates to “Hail.” This rune symbolizes delay, unforeseen disruptions, and various difficulties that may arise unexpectedly in life. Hagall, along with the next two runes Nauthiz and Isa, are (at least in contemporary interpretations) known as the runes of the Norns — the three goddesses of fate, or Wyrd.

Urd, the oldest of the Norns, is closely identified with Hagall and is said to appear in the hail as the “Hag” among the “coldest of grains.” Although this rune may appear menacing or threatening at first glance, it is important to keep in mind that without challenges and obstacles in our lives, personal growth and transformation would not be possible. It is through difficulty and hardship that we often experience new insights, strength, and the opportunity to evolve on a deeper level.
